About Acacia Lodge

The Team

Most of us live locally and have been working here for years since opening in late 2010, developing those unique bonds that define a happy team.
Our carers and nurses are all fully qualified, experienced and receive ongoing professional training.

Everyone that works here including the chef, nurses, carers, cleaners and programme directors, embodies our mission statement which is

“To improve and make a difference to the lives we touch through the delivery of high quality health-care and a deep sense of compassion”.

Facilities

Each resident has his or her own light, spacious, well-appointed bedroom with a large en-suite shower room. We encourage everyone to make their room their own with small pieces of furniture, ornaments and photographs. From the start we do everything in our power to make sure every resident feels happy, relaxed and at home.

We also offer a beautiful garden and patio, dining rooms and living rooms on every floor, a well-proportioned entrance hall, a hair-salon, fully stocked libraries and a very convivial residents’ bar.

It soon becomes apparent that we are a thriving community of people enjoying their lives, enhanced by the companionship that is essential to us all.

Dining

All our food is home made from fresh produce on the premises by our professional chef.

At Acacia, the food is nutritious certainly, but never at the cost of delicious. It’s not limited to strict meal-times in the dining room, either.

Every day we serve morning coffee with biscuits, afternoon tea with home-made cakes and snacks throughout the day.

We don’t always expect residents to eat in the dining room. Breakfast in bed may be an irresistible way to start the day. Or on fine days one might like to eat on the patio.  With smaller dining rooms on each floor, residents with similar caring needs can eat and talk. Because we know how important eating together is in staying connected, we encourage our residents to host dinners for their families and friends.

We are happy to accommodate any special dietary requirements.

Activities

There’s a lot to get involved with at Acacia Lodge – but everyone gets to decide what they want to do, and when they want to do it.

The residents benefit from a wide variety of activities including gardening, baking, writing clubs, dance shows, singing groups, gentle exercise, painting classes and trips out in our minibus to local points of interest.

Add all that to a stroll in the garden, a chat with a friend, a fully stocked library and a residents’ bar, boredom and loneliness need never be a problem here.
